Dancing on Michigan Ave

What to do after a lunch time dancing….Line Dancing on Michigan Ave
Mambo on the Concourse was a raving success. So Alvin, Nick and I decided to grab lunch to continue the party.  We took it to go and ate outside in Grant Park.  Under the branches the light fell filtered like a stain glass window.  It was so deliriously beautiful.
Next spot was Nick’s choice, as he was visiting from Taiwan.  So we hit the Magnificent Mile, with Alvin pointing out many of the buildings used in movies. While walking down Michigan Avenue we came across a stage with a DJ and people line dancing.  If you’ve ever seen a kid with a puppy, that’s how I get when people start to line dance.  It reminds me of Detroit, where we call it the hustle.
Winners with Hampton InnAnd of course my response is “Guys we have to do this”!  Alvin looked at me incredulously and said he would dance if I would ask the DJ to play salsa.  And the DJ not only had salsa, but put one on. Next thing we know, they’ve cleared off the stage and all of the cameras are focused on us.
So we danced, had fun, and “wowed” the growing crowd.  It was a blast.  We both entered the contest and both won a free two night stay in any US Hampton Inn. Definitely a great day to be on Michigan Ave. After that Alvin left for work.  But we didn’t bemoan that because like my father always said to us growing up “Work is Good”. Next stop for Nick and I was Navy Pier.  My favorite time of year to visit the Pier is in the fall when there is a slight chill in the air.  The crowd from the summer tourism has thinned and the view from the end of the Pier is breathtaking.  The icing on top was meeting new people and sharing the joy of dance all while having a great day filled with laughter, friendship, and an energy that is so Chicago. Not bad for a Thursday.

See you on the dance floor or on Michigan Ave,
Denita

Ps- there is video too Thanks Nick!
